Dynamic Memory Experiences

The work in this project is engaging in the dialogue of sustainability and conservation of natural areas, through illustrations that enhance natural phenomenons. With the help of the glossaries compiled in Landmarks by Robert MacFarlane, I have created twenty five illustrations of words I find to be the most beautiful, image evoking, and powerful. This work is made using watercolor, acrylic paint, and magazine strips to emphasize each definition. I believe it is important to revive these place-name words as a way to put a greater emphasis on a positive relationship with the environments around us. I hope they serve as a catalyst for viewers to see the world and seek out real-life experiences that are inspirational. Be it a memory from childhood or an amazing trip to a beautiful place, these images and words are meant to aid in creating better relationships between people and nature.
